Seaside Street and Scenes

To finish off the photographic section of the Summer brief, myself and Dawn headed off to Llandudno for the day - I was very happy with the images I got for the Summer work, but I also couldn't resist various other photographic opportunities that the day presented.

It was one of those days where the sun was doing battle with threatening storm clouds.  I think the light that that type of weather produces can be just stunning, every bit as good as the magic hour just as the sun rises or sets.

And later, when that light mixed with the evening light, the effect was even better!

At one point, I spent some time watching a cormorant diving for fish from its perch in the sea . . .

And, of course there were plenty of gulls around too, from the adults . . .

...to the ridiculously oversized brown feathered young, like this fellow, who decided to perch directly behind me as I sat on the pier, 'cheeping' at me and posing for  a number of shots - much to the amusement of several passers by !

He stayed for quite a while, letting me get very close to him, cocking his head from side to side in a quizical manner that I found irresistibly comical .

I have said, when covering the subject of street photography in previous blogs, that its not a form of photography that I am that fond of - but there was something about today that had me spotting so many potential shots, that I just couldn't resist.

These shots were taken as a couple of parties of school kids visited the beach - these children are almost certainly local and use to living beside the sea - but there is something about a stretch of sand and crashing waves that makes every kid excited . . .

I liked this ladies expression, as she marched along the front . . .

And after seeing these two heading towards me, it took me an age to get the jingle 'The red car and the blue car had a race ...' out of my head!

Cool socks!

Inspector and Mrs Clouseau ?

I loved the concentration on this little girls face - it makes me think that she has only recently mastered riding a bike .

Oblivious to the view, just enjoying a snack . . .

Could hear these two giggling, just thought it captured 'friendship'

'running' the dog . . .

Solitary Man

Evening wear isn't what I guess is normally worn for a walk along the sea front in Llandudno, but  then again - why not?

I like the way the light hits both the view and the people in this one . . .

And I liked the almost silhouette effect here ...

But this one, this is my favourite shot of the day -

I like the light, the drama of the sky and the way it makes it look as though that runner is the only person around for miles and miles.

Hopefully, this day also saw me getting the last of the shots I needed for the Summer Assignment - so I gues they will be the subject of the next blog - unless I get any more photodays out in the next week or so.
